Pet Sitting

Payment of a pet sitting service contract is due in full on or before the first day the contract is to commence. We accept cash, personal check, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover Card via Pay Pal.

We will keep a daily diary and log of what took place during each of our visits to your home. We will leave this for you after every visit so you can catch up on what your pets were up to while you were gone.

Should you choose, we will text message you updates and pictures of your pets’ activities. If at any time you would like to check on your pets, you may call us between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily. Typically, we will not call you unless you ask for phone updates or there is an emergency.

We change or top off drinking water on every visit. Good, clean, fresh water is mandatory for your pet’s good health.

On all regular pet sits, our visits last AT LEAST 30 minutes, most times it exceeds this time-frame. The only exception to this rule are our 20 minute mid-day visits and our 20 minute Power Walks.

When South Paw is responsible for your pets, we require visits at least once a day.

South Paw will not sit for outside animals.

We never take any chances with illness. In the event of an emergency you will be notified immediately. Should that occur, South Paw Pet Services will transport your pet via our vehicle to a Veterinarian as soon as possible. Every attempt will be made to take your pet to the Veterinarian of your choosing. If your vet is unavailable at the time, we will go to the closest qualified veterinarian or, if after hours, we’ll take the pet to an emergency vet. Any costs incurred at a veterinarians office due to the sickness of your pet will be your responsibility.

We understand that you may have relatives, neighbors, and cleaning or repair services that could have access to your home while you are away or at work. If other people will be in your home during our scheduled contract, South Paw Pet Services will not be held responsible for any damages incurred to your home or pets by said persons or businesses.

We request that you call us when you arrive back home so we can assure the safety and well being of your pets and home. Alternately, if your trip is extended or you return early, please call within 2 hours of what would be the next scheduled appointment time. This will also ensure no additional charges to you for unneeded visits. We will continue with your pet sitting service to the best of our ability until we have spoken with you and confirmed that you are home safely and are able to resume your pets care.

We understand that plans change and if cancellation is necessary, we ask that you please cancel your reservation as far in advance as possible. We require a 24 hour cancellation notice for all services. If the cancellation period is not upheld, there will be a $10 cancellation charge. If the petsitter is en-route, or has arrived at the premises and there has been no cancellation, you will be charged for the full visit.

Your keys will be returned to you by mail within one week of the end of your pet sitting contract unless you request they be kept on file for future visits. South Paw Pet Services cannot be held responsible for keys lost in the mail. If you would like your keys returned in person, there will be a $10.00 charge.

South Paw Pet Services does not assume and has no liability for any injuries your pets may sustain while in their own home/property. It is the pet owner’s sole responsibility to pet-proof the home and/or property that the pets have access to. It is the pet owners responsibility to inform South Paw if there are areas of the home and property that pets are not allowed access.

South Paw Pet Services cannot be held responsible for holes in your fence, and/or any places where your pet could possibly escape. It is your responsibility to let us know of any breaches in your yard, house, or of any potential danger to your pet so we can take every precaution necessary to ensure your pet’s safety.

South Paw requires the name and phone number of a person living nearby in case of an emergency. If the South Paw pet care provider is physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, or any other emergency situation, we will contact that person. Your pets’ health and well-being are our utmost concern and we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed of these events.

South Paw Pet Services reserves the right to substitute a caregiver if your primary sitter is not able to perform their duties during the course of your contract due to illness or injury. You will be notified as far in advance as possible. The substitute will abide by all policies and ethical practices utilized by the company.
